Documentation

 * Documentation for how to use the popup list of all locators for the current entry (Alt+Ctrl+A) and for the commands to move the the next locator (Alt+Ctrl+]) and previous locator (Alt+Ctrl+[) has been added to the User’s Guide

Fixed

 * Applying character formatting to heading levels greater than Sub3 would fail.

 * Fixed a bug when using Save As to save a grouped set of index entries. SI7 would incorrectly state that the save failed and would not let you choose to import optional items.

 * Fixed a bug where a general cross-reference identifier would disappear in the Preview Pane and generated index if you configured the index so that your ‘see’ or ‘see also’ introductory phrase did not have any formatting applied.

 * Fixed a problem with Unicode Translations where if you entered more than one “Display As” character, those characters would appear in the generated index.

 * If a “see” cross-reference had itself as a target, Error Scan did not flag it as an error.

 * If an index entry contained both Roman Numeral locators and Arabic locators, it was possible for the Error Scan to falsely report a “locator within a range” warning because Error Scan did not look the roman and arabic numbers differently.

 * If an index was setup in run-in style, the Preview Pane would leave out the leading semicolon if there was a subheading with a cross-reference.

 * If the very last index entry of a generated index had an orphaned subheading, that orphan would not get merged if the Merge Orphans option was selected.

 * If you change a locator from a lone heading to a see cross-reference, you no longer get a warning about making a see cross-reference from an entry that contains locators.

 * If you entered a page range and before moving to the next field, applied a label, the page range would not get automatically expanded as it should.

 * If you entered a page range in italics (or some other character style) a notice could be displayed letting you know that the page range was expanded because the second page was less than the first even though that was not the case.

 * If you tried to use the Increment/Decrement Locators feature on a roman numeral that had formatting applied, a program crash would occur.

 * If you used the Goto Next Active Label function, delete the record that was displayed and then use the Goto Next Active Label function again, a program crash would occur.

 * If you used the Group on Current command (Ctrl+Shift+F3) in Text Edit Mode and with the cursor at the very end of the existing text and there was more than one word in that text, a crash would occur.

 * In Edit View, if you grouped some entries and then tried to add a new subheading using Ctrl+Shift+N, the subheading would be created, but the main heading would be opened for editing rather than the newly created subheading.

 * In Text Edit Mode, if you used any command that alters the case of text and if there was text that was formatted, that text would lose its formatting.

 * The Copy/Paste Locators function now works in Edit View with the In-place editor.

 * The Error Scan would not catch that a cross-reference target did not exist if the text of the main heading matched the cross-reference target up to the length of that target. For example, if the main heading was ‘type 1 diabetes’ and the cross-reference target was ‘type 1,’ no error would be flagged.’

 * The Import and Export function incorrectly listed the file type 'sk7' instead of 'txtsky7'

 * The Remove Duplicate Records function would completely remove one entry from the index if the very last record of the index in sorted order had one or more duplicates.

 * Under some circumstances, if an index did not include any entries for page one of the document being indexed, the statistics for Pages Indexed could be incorrectly calculated.

 * When adding an acronym for the first time, you would receive an error message. After that you could add your acronyms. The error message no longer appears.

 * When applying superscript or subscript using in the data entry grid and when in Text Edit Mode, the program would crash.

 * When changing label colors using the Label Manager, the change would not be reflected in the grid and Preview Pane until you closed and reopened the index.

 * When customizing keyboard shortcuts, if you removed a shortcut from one command and added it to another, upon restarting SKY Index, the command would reappear for the command that you removed it from resulting in two commands with the same shortcut.

 * When entering locators that were sectionalized such as 12.3.11 some of the locators (or parts of the locators) were being erroneously sorted as a date rather than a number causing a mis-sorting of some locators.

 * When grouping on a locator, if you had hidden the first locator in a range, that locator would always appear in the group regardless of the actual locator.

 * When modifying/adding/removing a general cross-reference identifier in the Index Options dialog, SKY Index would fail to resort the index and therefore existing entries would not be sorted correctly.

 * When pasting text, any existing text that was already formatted would lose its formatting.

 * When switching back to SKY Index from another program using Alt+Tab, SKY Index would lose focus so that you could not use the program until you clicked on it with the mouse.

 * When the Browse Pane was visible, it was possible to click on the Preview Pane which would cause a program hang. Mouse clicks are now ignored by both the Preview Pane and the Data Entry Grid while the Browse Pane is visible.

 * When using the built-in Character Map Tool, trying to insert characters when in Edit View would cause a program crash.

 * When using the “Right Align” feature in the Locators tab of the Index Options dialog, the RTF code for a tab ‘tab ‘ would appear in the generated index instead of an actual tab.

 * When using the “Right Align” feature in the Locators tab of the Index Options dialog and when using an RTF output format other than “RTF,” the tab stop for the right aligned locator is now ignores the column settings since only the “RTF” output format supports columns.

 * You can now export an index in text delimited format which will import into SKY Index v5.x with formatting intact.

Improved/Modified

 * Due to customer requests, the Group Orphan Subheadings command no longer includes entries where the parent heading has locators.

 * Error Scan now checks for index entries that contain both a ‘see’ and a ‘see also’ cross-reference and flags them as an error.

 * Error Scan: The error scanning of cross-references has not only been made more accurate, the scanning is now completed more than twice as fast as before.

 * Modified the way general cross-references are formatted to match the formatting (or non-formatting) of the introductory phrase. Previously, general cross-references were always in italics.

 * The custom conflation dialog has been changed so that all references do not have to be entered as a range. Previously if you wanted a special rule only for page ranges starting with the number ‘120,’ you would have to enter it as ‘120-120.’ Now you simply have to enter ‘120’.

 * The Immediately Verify Cross-references option in Preferences has been improved to give better feedback in the dialog that is presented if a target is not found and is also more accurate (and faster) in finding missing targets. I has also been updated to match the way Error Scan handles cross-references that include the 'under' modifier and will make sure the main heading from which the cross-reference is made exists as a subheading of the target or an error message will be presented.

 * The Increment/Decrement Locator functions now work in Text Edit Mode.

 * The warning dialogs that check for and report non-existent cross-references or other improper index entries now work when you edit an already existing record as well as when you append a new record.

 * The word ‘or’ is now included in the ignored words list by default.

 * Updated the CINDEX import and export filters so that they handle the special characters {}<>~ properly and so that cross-references that include a comma will import correctly.

 * When a user mistakenly selects a column when trying to perform an editing command on all rows of the grid for a particular column, the user is now notified that they should use Select All instead and the Select All will be done for them if they choose OK so that they can continue with the edit.

 * When choosing the "Right Align" locators option, the Preview Pane will now show " … " (space-ellipse-space) before the first locator as an indicator that the Right Align option has been chosen.

 * When performing a spell check, you will now receive a spell check is complete notice when the spell check is finished or a spell check has been cancelled notice if you cancel the spell check.

 * Error Scan: When performing an error scan for circular cross-references, SI7 will now find circular cross-references where there are multiple levels of indirection. For example the following three entries will now be flagged as an error: cars. see automobiles - automobiles. see vehicles - vehicles. see cars. The error will be flagged no matter how many levels of indirection there are.

New Feature

 * A new sort feature has been added to the Sorting tab of the Index Options dialog. The new option is a checkbox for “Recognize Style and Case.” If checked (recommended), SKY Index will automatically handle differences between two or more headings that are identical except for character style or capitalization. For instance “Apples” and “apples” will have separate sort keys so that all locators for each will combine without the need to manually differentiate between them as is currently necessary.

 * Preferences now contains a “Paste Plain Text Only” option. If chosen, when you copy and paste (or drag and drop) text from another program into SKY Index, only the plain text (without any character style information) will be pasted. This serves two purposes. The first is to serve the situation where the formatting is undesirable and the second is to act as a potential workaround for situations where the formatted text does not paste correctly or does not paste at all (this later problem occurs mostly from PDFs but can occur for Word files as well).

Known Issues

 * When saving a set of grouped entries using the Save As command, SKY Index will incorrectly tell you that you need to resort the index and will also display a dialog allowing you to select items to import. This last dialog should be cancelled. Regardless of the aforementioned issues, the Save As command will work.
